Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides professional medical services in the community health center setting. The NP will provide comprehensive primary care for pediatric patients from birth to 18 years old. The NP will collaborate with other health care professionals and with the Medical Director in the management of patients and their coordination, referral, and follow-up care.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct patient care from birth to 18 years age including, but not limited to, acute illness, wellness, and preventive care, immunizations, chronic conditions, behavioral concerns, and social issues.
- Familiarity with the current CDC immunization schedule and Bright Futures recommendations.
- Empathy and cultural sensitivity in providing care to diverse populations including immigrants from Russia and Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Central America.
- Clear, constructive, and timely communication with families, team members, and other health care providers.
- Good clinical knowledge and judgment in providing high-quality care for patients. Ability to find answers to clinical questions quickly.
- Proficiency in utilizing Electronic Health Records. We use the cloud-based Athena platform.
- No inpatient, Emergency Department or nursery responsibilities.
- Full-time practice (32-40 hours per week).
- Light telephone call infrequently (approximately every 7-8 weeks).
- Clinic days are 8 or 10 hours of patient care. Clinicians will be expected to work Saturdays, either as a regular clinic day or as part of a rotation (approximately every 5-8 weeks).
Education/Experience Required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Candidate must be Board Certified
- Fully licensed to practice in the state of California with no restrictions
- Current DEA certificate
- Current BLS certification
- Previous FQHC or community health center practice experience preferred
- Fluency in Russian, Spanish, or Dari a plus but not required

- Medical Insurance. Elica offers a choice between Western Health Advantage and Kaiser HMO plans. We pay the employee portion of in-network covered medical expenses resulting in $0 copay, $0 deductible, and $0 coinsurance up to the maximum annual out of pocket expenses. Employees are responsible for a $100 copay for visits to the emergency room, as well as all out-of-network and uncovered expenses. Elica pays 80% of the employee premium for coverage.
- Acupuncture/Chiropractic Care. 30 free visits a year of acupuncture and/or chiropractic treatments.
- Dental Insurance. Coverage available which includes 100% preventative care, 90% basic care, and 60% major care up to $2,000 per year. Elica pays the employee portion of costs for active employees who are treated by an Elica dentist, dependents are responsible for their portion of costs.
- Vision Insurance. Coverage available which includes an annual exam and a portion of the cost for frames and lenses.
- Life Insurance/AD&D. Elica provides a 1X annual salary up to a maximum of $250K life insurance for eligible employees. Employees have the option to purchase additional insurance for themselves and dependents.
- 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Employees may deduct money from their paychecks to invest in a retirement savings account. Pre-tax and Roth after-tax options are available.
- Flexible Spending Plan (before-tax savings plans). Elica offers two FSA plans. Employees may deduct up to $2,700, and up to $5,00 for medical (including dental, vision, and out of network expenses) and dependent care (child and eldercare) respectively.
- Employee Assistance Program. 5 free confidential counseling sessions, family caregiving referral services, free 30-minute legal consultation, free 30-minute financial consulting session, convenience service free referrals, a wealth of online tools and information.
- Sick Time, Vacation and Paid Holidays. Full-time clinicians receive 4 weeks of paid vacation per year. Elica also provides 1 hour paid sick leave per 30 hours worked, 7 scheduled holidays, and 1 floating holiday.
- CEU Reimbursement. Elica reimburses employees for the cost of pre-approved CEUs required for licensure as well as the cost of license renewal. Clinicians receive up to 40 hours paid CEU time per year.
- Discount Programs. Elica belongs to a purchasing organization that offers employees discounts to restaurants, hotels, activities (i.e., Disneyland admission, etc.), and cellphone discounts.
