Neonatology

Banner University Medical Group is seeking a Physician Assistant  with 5+ yrs experience or Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join the Division of Neonatology at the University Medical Center Tucson Campus. NNP in academic setting to provide coverage for level III NICU; work closely with attending neonatologist to provide patient care, provide direction and education for residents, and produce optimal patient outcomes.

Work Schedule & Description:  

• Full-time (1.0 FTE)
• Flexible shifts - team self schedules.  24-hour shifts available  
• No patient charting - attendings write notes for you!
• Teaching and research opportunities - (currently 3 active studies)

  As a Nurse Practitioner, this position is involved in: Providing support for residents covering up to 20 patients; management of NNP team covering 5-16 patients; attendance at all high risk deliveries; teach/assist/perform procedures including intubations, chest tubes, arterial lines, PICCs, ventilator management, and participate as an NRP instructor. This position requires working closely with Physicians and other clinicians in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

  Required Qualifications:

  • Current State of Arizona RN license.
  • Master’s degree with a major in Nursing from a State Board of Nursing approved school and satisfactory completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.
  • Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing and with prescribing privileges through the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Current BLS and NRP.
  • Current prescribing privileges including a DEA license for controlled substance.  Waived for New Graduates.
